Course Overview

This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others.

Our White Card course is delivered face-to-face and in a small group-based learning environment to ensure that learned skills and knowledge can be applied to individual circumstances and workplace requirements.
 
Course Content

Students undertaking this course can expect to develop competency skills and knowledge including:
  • Identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards
  • Understanding basic risk control measures
  • Identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies
  • Correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.
 
Cost

$120.00 Payment to be made prior to commencing program.
 
Pathways

A White Card is formal recognition that an individual has attended Work Health and Safety Induction training and is a requirement to work onsite in the Building and Construction Industry.

On successful completion the learner will be issued with a statement of Attainment, CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry. A White Card will also be issued to the learner.

1 full day (7h), 9:00am – 4:00pm, face to face, South Australia Only

Units of Competencies

CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

This unit meets the general construction induction training requirements of:
  • Part 1.1 Definitions and Part 6.5 of the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Division 11 of Part 3 of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 FOR Western Australia Division 3 of Part 5.1 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2007 for Victoria.
  • It is expected that site-specific induction training will be conducted prior to conducting construction work
 
Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites
  • Must be 15 years of age or older.
  • Learners must demonstrate the ability to understand and use basic Language, Literacy and Numeracy.
  • All learners must provide their USI upon enrolment.
  • All participants of the course must provide 100 points of identification with at least 1 for of photo identification
