Course Overview

This industry immersion program is designed to promote the construction industry to the next generation. Proudly supported by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), the program provides a pathway to VET in Schools programs and apprenticeships for current high school students.

The course includes the delivery of White Card accreditation, and provides students the opportunity to access a live construction site or workshop. Courses are delivered face-to-face and in a small group-based learning environment exposing students to a number of different trades including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, bricklaying, and painting.
 
Cost

Free. This course is supported by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).
 
Pathways

A White Card is formal recognition that an individual has attended Work Health and Safety Induction training and is a requirement to work onsite in the Building and Construction Industry.

On successful completion the learner will be issued with a statement of Attainment, CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry. A White Card will also be issued to the learner.
 
Delivery

4 days, 1 day per week over 4 weeks, 9:00am – 3:00pm

Units of Competencies

CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

This unit meets the general construction induction training requirements of:
  • Part 1.1 Definitions and Part 6.5 of the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Division 11 of Part 3 of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 FOR Western Australia Division 3 of Part 5.1 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2007 for Victoria.
  • It is expected that site-specific induction training will be conducted prior to conducting construction work
 
Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites
  • Must be 15 years of age or older.
  • Learners must demonstrate the ability to understand and use basic Language, Literacy and Numeracy.
  • All participants must provide their USI upon enrolment.
  • All participants must provide photo identification upon enrolment
