Course Overview

CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways
This course is tailored and delivered to students under a VET for Schools arrangement.

Our Building Links program is designed specifically for VET in Schools and tailored to provide students hands on experience in renovating and remodelling existing homes provided in partnership with South Australian Housing Authority (SAHA), while completing their accredited qualification, Certificate II in Construction Pathways.
 
The program supports the skill development and knowledge growth of students, whilst preparing them with employability skills and work requirements, expectation and pathways. Working closely with schools, our program equips students with the foundations for a rewarding career in the Building and Construction industry.
 
Our program contributes to 40 Stage 1 SACE credits.
 
 

Units of Competency

Core Unit

    ●  CPCCOM1012 Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry
    ●  CPCCOM1013 Plan and organise work
    ●  CPCCOM1015 Carry out measurements and calculations
    ●  CPCCVE1011 Undertake a basic construction project
    ●  CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction Industry
 
Elective Units

    ●  CPCCCA2011 Handle carpentry materials
    ●  CPCCCM2005 Use construction tools and equipment
    ●  CPCCPD2012 Use painting and decorating tools and equipment
    ●  CPCCPD3022 Apply paint by brush and roller
    ●  CPCCCM2009 Carry out basic demolition
 
 

Cost

School Contribution: $220.00

Intakes occur in the second half of each year through the VETRO process. Please consult your school’s VET leader regarding VETRO.

 

Delivery

Duration: 1 day per week, 9:00am – 3:00pm for the full school year (36 weeks)
Delivery Mode: Face to Face – combined with onsite practical assessment components in a simulated workplace environment
 
Day of the week and site locations will be discussed and confirmed on enrolment as multiple options will be available.
 
 

Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites

    ●  Must complete an Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN)
    ●  Must be 15 years of age or older
    ●  All learners must provide their USI upon enrolment
    ●  All participants of the course must provide 100 points of identification with at least 1 form of photo identification
 
Students must have already obtained and be able to provide a Statement of Attainment:  CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card).

Inhouse Student Support

SYC identifies individual support requirements during the initial intake/enrolment process. During your course, your trainer/assessor will provide based on your requirements. SYC also can provide additional support for LLND, language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy skills where identified during initial intake processes, or during your course.
 
Our students are encouraged to seek support and discuss their learning needs and requirements with their trainer and assessor so that the right support strategies are put in place for the best possibility learning outcome.
 
Students accessing subsided training are eligible to access additional Success and Wellbeing Support Services (SWS). SWS is an initiative of SkillsSA and the Government of South Australia and supports you with study plans, flexible study delivery, after-hours support and guidance, which also extends after your training is complete. Accreditation and Employment Pathways

Accreditation
On successful completion of assessment requirements, the learner will be issued with a Certificate in CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways.
 
Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
 
Employment Pathways
The qualification provides a pathway to a diverse range of trade apprenticeships within the construction industry. Students are encouraged to speak with their trainer/assessor, or Success and Wellbeing Coach if they are interested in accessing apprenticeship services towards the end of their course.
 
 

What will I need?

All course learning resources, equipment and tools used for assessment are provided by SYC and are at no cost to students enrolled in the course.
 
Students will need to provide their own Steel capped boots and long pants prior to commencement of the course.
High visibility tops and general PPE will be provided
 
 

Location Details

SYC’s CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways (Building Links, VET for Schools) program is delivered on a live construction site. Upon enrolment, SYC will communicate with students, parents and schools of the location of the site.
