Course Overview
Our Build Your Career program is a state-based skill set, designed and delivered specifically for those job seekers wanting to gain entry level skills and knowledge to start a career in the Building and Construction industry.In partnership with South Australian Housing Authority (SAHA), our program prepares job seekers for real employment opportunities with builders and contractors working with Housing SA. Our on-the-job training model provides job seekers with hands on experience and application to skills and knowledge learned and our Learner Support Services staff are available onsite to assist with any challenges affecting your learning journey.
Course Content
This course combines accredited workplace training on a live construction site, practical work sessions and theory-based learning. Our students develop skills and knowledge including:Construction induction training (White Card)
Working safely at heights
General use of construction tools and equipment
Work Health and Safety requirements for working in the Building and Construction industry
Undertaking construction projects and works
Interpreting construction plans and specifications

Pathways
Successful completion of this program the student will receive a statement of attainment for SSDIS01008 – Introduction to Construction Skill Set.Participant ‘s will also receive a statement of attainment and White Card issued by SYC for successful completion of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card).
Participants who have completed this course could enrol in CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways, or Certificate III level qualification within the Construction Training Package https://training.gov.au/Training/Details/CPC08
Delivery
4 day per week, 9:00am – 4:00pm for 5 weeks (20 days) Theory learning combined with onsite practical assessment components in a simulated workplace environment

Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites
Must complete an Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN)All learners must provide their USI upon enrolment.
All participants of the course must provide 100 points of identification with at least 1 for of photo identification
